Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

cleveland

what an awesome first day in ohio today!!! we connected w/several voter registration groups & found out that cleveland leads the state in new voter registrations!!! and we heard that cleveland is over 70% democratic - like nyc!!! this was re-confirmed the afternoon: we did an awesome vigil on courtney street, a small business area where we were able to register 10 voters!!! yeah!!! it seemed 29 outta 30 folks passing by were kerry supporters determined to rid ourselves of bush. PLUS channel 5 news was out on that particular street looking for people to interview re:tomorrow nite's debate and they found us!!! and the truck!!! they interviewed me & i gave them a full 15 or 20 minutes of cp talking points. it was pretty exciting - whether it makes the news or not, we'll see.
immediately afterward our street vigil, we tabled at a cleveland teacher's union event, which was also exciting. altho we were instructed we had to be non-partisan (so off went the organic cotton 'pink slip bush' t-shirts!), tons of kerry supporters were clearly in evidence. we got to set up inside - thank goodness, because it is freezing here in ohio already & it was a night-time event. we only registered one voter but we handed out lots of codepink info & materials.
between both events, we were able to get about 7 folks signed up for codepink cleveland. plus we might have a houseparty tomorrow nite in cleveland heights, and there are several concerts we might be able to table at during the week. but the MOST exciting thing is that the edwards/cheney debate is going to be HERE in cleveland on the 5th - we're planning to have that be the kick-off for codepink cleveland actions!!! any ideas for an innovative action that will captivate the press & mobilize voters? peace, sam
